There are different styles used in headline writing. In modern times, the factual headlines attract more readers than headlines that come with qualifiers. This is true for news stories.

A question that creates curiosity or confusion in the minds of readers always attracts the attention of readers of all types.

The question must be specific (mistakes in English grammar), targeted (you) and should create curiosity (simple mistakes).

A hard hitting intro quickly captures the attention of your readers and attracts them to read your article till the end.

A hard hitting intro captures the essence of the story in one telling sentence. I saw the following intro on April 18.

“Virginia student kills 32 before shooting himself on his face.”

Needless to say, I was shocked and was pulled into the ‘story’ and could not take my eyes off the screen till I reached halfway down the story.

Such shocking intros are not needed in article writing. In 99% of the case, it is not possible either. However, you can capture the essence of your article in a small sentence. That sentence needs to sell the article. That is, the reader must feel like reading the whole article after reading that first sentence.

The first sentence of the letter can cover up a weak headline to a small extent.

It is not really an easy task. But our teacher, John Mary, who is also a long term press reporter once has shown us how simple it is to write ‘leads’ or ‘intros’ to write stories that sell.

It is really simple to write an intro that captures the attention of readers. All you have to do is to imagine yourself in a specific situation.

Imagine you have some news that you want to pass to your friend. Your friend is travelling on a bus and you wait at the bus stop. You see the bus stop is not busy and the bus would wait for only a few seconds. How will you pass the news to your friend? Will you describe all the details or tell him? No way. You will just single out one or two elements of the ‘news’ you have and shout them to your friend, before the bus is gone.

Similar is the case of intro writing. You bring the most important aspects of the story to a single sentence and that sentence is the intro (or lead as most journalists like to call it).

Open an article in a conversational note. That is, write the sentences as if you are talking to your friend. More than 90% of article writing falls in this category.

There are no special efforts to bring in any effects. Just tell the readers what you have to say in your own style.

Overcome Writer's Block with this Simple Technique

We all experience it at one time or the other - the dreaded 'writer's block'. It is the condition we think words just are not coming out in a way it should. We look at the blank paper (sorry! blank screen it is) for hours and feel we don't have the right words to start it off.

We pray for some magical powers that guide our fingers to create a page full of text that is meaningful to readers, that amuses them and helps our client make profits. My experience says that we all can do it by using a simple technique to overcome writer's block.

The main problem is we really have nothing to say at the point. Or we, the writers don't know we really know what to say on the specific topic at hand. A worse problem is having no topic at all. Let me assume the article writer actually has a topic to write about.

The Technique: Write a 300-400 word silly article that you never show to anyone else.

Sounds strange? Try it for once. Write some things about whatever topic it is and keep it to yourself. It is OK to start with some absurd comment on the real serious topic at your hands. It's also OK to crack some funny comments on the topic - afterall no one is seeing what you write, right?

The assurance and guarantee that you show this work to no one else gives you all the freedom to write anything right or wrong. You have a goal while attempting this, free yourself from the clasp of that dreaded demon called writer's block. That is the only goal and you have to someway kick away the 'imaginary' block.

Writing at least a piece of at least 100 words is beneficial in removing the writer's block that blocks your larynx and tells you "stop writing, you fool".

Writing something silly on the topic acts as a big gulp of a gallon of water that washes 'writer's block' away.

Look at what you have written. Believe me, it has a lot of ideas or starting points from where you can draft a minimum of six or seven articles. Thus a point, the silly article must be on topic. All the words you write must be on the topic you intend to write.

Simple Two-Step Inverted Pyramid Model for Article Writing

Taking a leaf off Journalists' book can help you write articles that accurately convey your ideas.
My teachers at Institute of Journalism told me the formula is an 'inverted pyramid'. I like to call it tell and expand or touch and explain. Journalists use inverted pyramid style to convey the news in shortest possible time.

When writing a news lead, the reporter or editor has to tell the story in as little words as possible. The headline (title) and the first line of the news story (called intro or lead) quickly tell the reader what has happened and where.

The news story then goes on to explain the details. The reader gets details of the news while he or she continues reading the story.

Inverted pyramid style is called so because the reader first see the most important part of the story, followed by parts of lesser importance. The importance, as you guess is based on the judgement of the journalist.

Take that style of writing to article writing and you have a simple, but most effective article writing formula.

An article writer can use many 'inverted pyramids' in an article. Use the first sentence of a paragraph to drop an idea or a fact. Use the following sentences to explain the idea. The first sentence of the paragraph gives some idea. The reader gets a clearer idea of what the writer is saying while he or she reads the second sentence and the third sentence.

You can find the same style of writing in almost any article you read. At first you see a (new or old) topic. You get an idea what the article is about. You then read the article to find the details. In fact this is the default style of writing.

It doesn't take a journalism school training to learn this simple technique of article writing. Anyone who can express himself or herself well can also write high quality articles. Following this touch and explain model of writing never fails them to convey what he or she really means to communicate.

Which is the best time to write articles? It depends on individual variations, I think.

For me the best time to write articles is early in the morning, from 4.30 to 7.00 in the morning, before I go to my 30 minutes aerobics program.

Waking up early is difficult thing for many people that I clearly know. I don't ask you to wake up early in the morning, but you can identify the most productive hours of the day by yourself.

Check out the time when you are most able to concentrate on the task of article writing. Modify your daily routine in such a way to take maximum advantage of your PRIME HOURS.
What about working under stress?

I have repeatedly found I produce more articles under stress, but the sad part is there will be problems of spelling mistake, grammar error and bad style. This happens when the deadline is near and I got the assignment not 'in' time. However, a bit of stress is really productive for me.

That is I have enough time to complete the writing assignment, but not enough time to relax. A medium level of compulsion requires me to concentrate on the task and to complete it fast, without the requirement of a 'haste and waste' situation.

My idea to get a bit adrenaline flow is to impose my own deadline to the writing assignment. It will be before the actual deadline, but will act towards a motivational level of stress.
What about de-stressing?

So glued to the computer, my way of relaxing is Yahoo! chatting and blogging, this blog and many other blogs I own are actually my way of busting stress. With continuous tussle with deadlines, social life is a mess for article writers. Four Basic HTML Tips for Article Writers

Article Submission: Two Strategies that Work

Article authors and article marketers generally employ two different strategies for getting maximum exposure for their articles.

The first one
Write 50-100 articles and submit them to five to ten article directories from which others can get the article for publication.

The second one
Write 5-10 articles and submit them to 357 article directories thereby targeting immediate exposure and higher search engine ranking for their website.

Which is the strategy you follow? Both produce almost similar results in terms of increased website traffic and acceptance.

The first strategy has one advantage. The actual readers reading articles on your specific topic come across a large number of articles all written by you. This makes the reader assume that you have a lot of experience behind the words.

I saw at EzineArticles.com a body building expert author with more than 70 articles. Add to that he has put a picture of himself that tells loudly he actually is a body builder. No one will doubt he is an expert in his selected field.

The second strategy too has an advantage; readers of different article directories can find you and reach you. You also have the benefit of incoming links from a whole lot of domains and IP locations.

The second strategy however has a problem that the back links you get may be from pages with Google PR 0. It is not very beneficial in your search engine ranking. Avoiding an article directory solely because its home page has page rank zero is not a good strategy either.

I have personally submitted an article to ArticleBin.com in Dec 2006 as part of massive link building plan for a client website. It had PR 0. Checked back in Jan 15, 2007 and find PR increased to 4. That difference was happened in less than 30 days.

Third strategy I personally like
Handpick five article directories that are highly populated with more than 1,000 authors and a minimum of 10,000 articles. It also has Google PR 5. Submit five articles a week on a consistent basis to these five directories. I don't give you a specific list. But there are enough article directories that meet these conditions and you can choose from them.

Randomly pick another five article directories a week and submit the same five articles.

Do you have a fourth strategy?
To submit hundreds of articles to all the article directories that you can find? I don't have experience with strategy and not sure about the results. Seems OK, but may not be the case.

Free is the most powerful power word. Free tips, free e-book, or anything free still appeals to human nature, even though everyone knows nothing on earth is really free. Unique, State of the Art, Proven, Magical, Dramatic, Insider Information, etc also are power words.

However, don't get carried away by power words too much. Any word can become a power word when used in the right context at the right point. The biggest example is 'these'.

The cries and hues about paid blogging and pay per post blogging is not without a reason. At one side is advertisers trying to capitalize on the credibility of bloggers as genuine commentators and on the other side is a set of bloggers who want to uphold the integrity and credibility of blogging community.

What paid blogging is acceptable?

I can pay someone to write for my blog. I can also accept payment for writing on someone else's blog. It is the same as ghost writing or column writing for a magazine, which has been around for quite a long time. Freelance writers make their living out of this type of writing.

The blog owner may choose to acknowledge the contributor or not. The present nature of blogging environment is such that such contributions are easily acknowledged. Anyone can pay professional writers to get enough blog posts to make his or her blog content rich. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this model of paid blogging.

What model of paid blogging is not acceptable?

When someone pay me to post something in my blog, it is not acceptable. I can't also pay someone to write what I say in his or her blog. Doing so is in no way similar to ghost writing. It is simple bribery. At first the blogger may be free to write his or her own views about a specific website, product or service. Soon there will be more strings as to avoid excessive negative comments about a product, then it will be avoid negative and final stage will be the blogger asked for blatant promotion of the product.

This exposure they expect not only from the article directories. By submitting to an article directory, the article author is giving an option to publishers to freely publish the article. The only condition article authors ask is to keep the resource box in tact.

A few of web publishers like to get the article but are reluctant to leave the live link in the article. They just remove the author resource box and publish the article in their own website. At times they may also change the title of the article.

The publishers of such an article have to address several issues. They know they are violating copyright rules and the publisher policy set by the article directory. Anyway they feel they should take a risk.

The disadvantages of not respecting copyright:

The publisher has to somehow hide the fact that he/she has taken the article from an article directory.

The publisher has to deform the article not to get caught in copyscape tests.

The publisher risks his/her internet hosting provider suspending the service and risking the website going offline.

The publisher has to tell a lot of lies.

The simplest method for article publishers get quality content in their website - get HTML copy of the article from the article directory and use it as such without ANY modification. You are NOT free to edit grammar errors or typos. The author however gives such right to article directory editors.

The Wrong Way of Using Articles from Article Directories

Everyone wants quality content for their websites. If it is not solely for attracting search engines, it is for addressing the visitors as a credible host. Free content is available from article directories in large quantities. There is a right way to use the articles in your websites and there is a wrong way for doing so.

First the right way of using articles from article directories

Article directories require publishers or website owners to use the article as such, without any modifications. You shall not in any way modify author resource box and should leave the live link in tact. This articles are also publishable in magazines, newspapers etc. Then again the resource box rule exists. You must not delete or edit the resource box in any manner.

There can also be restrictions on the number of articles you can take from a specific article directory. Must comply to this rule to play it safe.

The wrong ways of using articles from article directories

It is so compelling for some publishers that they want to remove the resource box and live link. Removing the resource box before publishing is wrong way.

Another thing is to reword the whole article to make the article appear a new one. Thus the website publishers believe they can remove the resource box without violating copyright rules. This is wrong way of using an article from article directories.

Authors publish their articles in article directories to get as much exposure as they can. The only marketing tool they have is the author resource box. New Year Resolution of a Blogger

I am blog writer, or more clearly an aspiring successful blogger. If you like to know about my plans to success in 2007, you can read on.

This year I will draft a post everyday. Whether I post or not is not relevant, but I will write at least one article per day. It translates into a minimum of 365 articles in 2007. I plan to do more is another thing.

My inspiration comes mainly from a few humans. One among them is Lance Winslow, an expert author at EzineArticles.com, who has wrote 10,000 articles in 20 months. I don’t think I will write as much articles in five or six years.

Others that I derive inspiration from include Tenzing Norge, Mahatma Gandhi and Wilma Rudolph in general and Lance Armstrong in special. These are people that redefined ‘possible’ and the ‘impossible’.

My second goal is to increase traffic to my blog. I find links to my blog does me good. Every week I will write at least seven posts for my blog. At the same time I will write another article, which I will submit to five article directories.

I will immediately have five links to my blog. I will do this every week. Thus at the end of 2007, I will have 250 links from article directories.

Declaring my intentions loudly to the wide world and getting some feedback for the declaration will be a great boost to my sure march to the status of successful blogger and article writer in 2007.

I don’t plan to use any affiliate programs as of now. But don’t brush off the idea either. If ever I use an affiliate link, I will let my readers know by clearly marking it so.

There is a major challenge before me to be successful as a blogger. It is not the 40kbps connection or English being my second language. The biggest challenge is to turn these resolutions to solid action. In simpler words, retaining the attitude for a year is the biggest challenge before me.

I will break 2007 into 12 months. Analyze my progress every month. I also will put monthly and weekly targets of minimum blog postings and article submissions. Seven blog postings and an article submission a week is my goal. By the end of 2007 I will have a minimum of 350 useful posts and 50 articles giving me 250 links.

Very moderate minimalist goal, I think it is. I think it still is a big challenge.

Do you think a laptop sold for $ 100 serves only as a toy for your kid? It’s time for a second thought.

The idea of a $ 100 laptop is not new. Prof Nicholas Negroponte, Chairman and Co Founder of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab, unveiled such a project in 2005. The project, named One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is aimed mainly at computer education for children of the poorer countries.

The laptop is yet to hit the market, but solid orders from governments keep flowing in.

The project has big names like eBay, Google, AMD, News Corp, Nortel Networks, Red Hat etc as patrons, each of which has contributed in the tune of $ 2m for the project.

The proposed Linux machine comes without a hard drive. A 500 MHz AMD Processor and 128 MB RAM provides more than basic performance. It does comes with a 500 MB Flash memory and four USB ports, leaving enough scope for external extra memory. Wireless broadband connectivity comes as icing on the cake.

Intel and HP too have plans to roll out similar projects.

This would open up chances of internet cafés in all villages, creating more and more entrepreneurs. The computer will also be enough for basic data entry jobs that are largely outsourced today. Back offices of Silicon Valley can go to the living rooms of India, Philippines and Malaysia.

When other students have some suggestions, they use their fingers to point on the screen. Now five students with a five mouse computer, each of them can make suggestions and take appropriate action without having to ask the leader to do so.

The real use of multiple-mouse computers will surely be in educating children of poor neighborhoods. It can be useful in places where a computer for a student is not an affordable choice.

I did felt the need of double-mouse computer, especially while explaining something to my friend, who loves not to give up control of his mouse.

OK, now I have another idea – I can play a round of chess with a friend on my side. I just have to use the ultra basic chess program.

Ok, it may be time to design combat games where four or five characters can be simultaneously controlled by as much people. Competitiveness will be tough. It can also become a tough task for the physically weak personalities to beat the physically tough competitors. What if the aggressiveness takes another form?

Hey guys,

Don’t you have heard about body language before, right? OK, I am not going to talk endlessly about healthy body language; instead I will scribble some of my observations with body language.

Hands and arms

My arm movement has been my biggest liability all the years, but identified it only very recently. The problem – I used to move the arms too much, most times before my body.

Some of my friends identified this as a problem and pointed to me this. Thus I made a conscious effort to control arm and hand movement. When walking I now move my hands only three-five inches forward and two inches back. No I didn’t measure the distance with a tape. I just controlled the movement so much.

Later I identified this simple step gave me more control over my body. It actually gave me more control in my interactions with my friends.

The teacher inside me shows up. Controlling the movement of your arms gives you more control in your interactions with your friends, relatives, colleagues and your boss.

Head

Always hold the head high. Keeping head in that position indeed is energizing and represents honesty and integrity.

Back

Let the backbone and head together form a straight line vertically up to the sky. This is ideal posture according to yoga. According to them, this posture opens up free passage for Kundalini energy move up the energy chakras.

Chin

Keep chin up. Not up to sky. Keep it parallel to ground. This way you automatically hold your head high.

Eyes

Eyes exchange thousand stories without telling a word. Eyes can play some very important roles in non-verbal communication. If you lax here, it can break you.

Look straight forward at your eye level. Never look down, especially when talking to someone. Don’t stare at the other person. It can be perceived as overly aggressive. When talking to a person, never look above his or her eye level. It will appear threatening. Look somewhere below the nose and above the chin of the other person. If it is your GF, you can go a bit down. Plz don’t make it overly expressive.

A single point action plan to completely forget about body language

I agree remembering that much is very hard. I will give a single point action plan to forget all of the above.

Bring to your mind an extra supply of pure energy. Wonder how to do it? It is quite easy. Assume that you thoroughly enjoy what you do. Whatever you do, think of it as the most enjoyable thing you can do at the moment. Keep the same attitude even while describing your mistakes to your boss. Do it in an energetic manner. You will be covering several of your weaknesses and scoring high points with your boss and friends.

Make it a habit to bring in that extra mental energy to all your thoughts, actions and conversation with whatever people you come across. You will have to worry little about controlling your arms, putting your chin parallel to ground or keeping your eyes level.

This post is about a skill I want to develop myself. I am very poor when it comes to friends department, only a few of them. All of them have been my friends for quite a long time. I really feel down when it comes to the fact that I have very little friends. On the other hand I have little time to maintain the relationships too.

Sometimes, usually in Sunday afternoons, I log in to yahoo messenger to chat to total strangers. Though not very good at it, I occasionally have great conversations (mostly with girls). Most times it ends as a bubble burst.

Back to the title and intended post – energetic communication or energy filled interaction is what makes people refreshed and keeps them stay with you. I have seen the quality of high energy conversation and interaction in some persons. Needless to say, they always are busy entertaining their friends.

The friends as it is called in most cases will be the people they have just met. When you look at their convo, you think they have been friends for years. These high energy people are reservoirs of energy that they pass on to the people around them. I always like to be in the company of such people. Will I be able to behave in similar manner? Sometimes I think so, but in most cases negative thoughts cross me.

Even then I have some words of solace that I say to myself – if you are an introvert and shy person you too can try that.

Everyone is unique. My method of conversation is quiet and fulfilling. I talk slow, but talk only meaningful things. The long-term friendships I maintain prove that I am good friend of friends.

Though I can say these words to myself, I sometimes (or mostly) feel jealous to them who always surround themselves with an army of friends.

Top Gun The Film

Guys,

Have you seen 'Top Gun', 19-- Tom Cruise starrer film directed by Tony Scott? Indeed a great movie, right? Real great movie stuff, with everything you can ask for in a movie, thrill and fun.

Thrill - fighting between fighter planes in the air.

Fun - the embarassing moment when Maverick (Tom Cruise) finds out the lady he has hit up on is actually his instructer at the Fighter Weapons School or the Top Gun.

Maverick is a Naval Aviator, punished several times for his wayward behavior, but still his officer has little choice but to choose him for risky assignments, because he is such an instinctive pilot. Thus he reaches Top Gun to match against the top 1% of all fighter plane pilots of the world.

At Top Gun, Maverick choose to be always Number 2 and with a reason.

The air combat scenes of the film are so clear and so realistic, taking you to the heights of thrills of actually flying a fighter plane.

There is one specific scene where Maverick slows down to draw a MIG 28 on his tail closer, which frightens his wingman. He was earlier criticized for using this tactic, but he does it again and pulls it off in a big fashion to the cheers of his team members at the naval ship. Maverick cuts straight up, which pushes the MIG to before him, to a perfect position to take a missile shot.

Another attractive scene is Maverick hitting on Charlie (Kelly McGillis) at a bar with a famous song "You don't close your lips any more, when I kiss your lips". Most of the people in the bar gets around Maveric and Charlie and repeats the song themselves, I think to which Charlie is amused. The next day a new instructor was introduced to teach the fighter pilots of Top Gun about enemy combat planes.

There were a few moments of embarassment for Maverick, from which he was quickly relieved, mainly because of an inaccurate piece of information that the civilian instructor tried to convey. Charlie says MIGs can't take 4G turns (flying upside down), which Maverick cuts off with his sighting a MIG actually taking a 4G along with his wing rider Goose (Anthony Edwards).

Background music and songs like "Highway to the danger zone" really help in intensifying the experience of the film.

Karma, Not Janma Decides Destiny

While listening to Christmas Eve message at our church, I got the story of birth of Jesus in a totally different manner. The lowly birth of Jesus is something to watch for. Since getting no space inside a decent inn or house, Joseph had to find a little space in a cowshed, where born Jesus.

Perhaps this is the lowliest birth anyone can get. Irrespective of his lowly birth he went on to transform the whole world and giving a message of hope to everyone.

Notwithstanding his lowly birth he is worshipped all around the world today.

It is not anyone’s Janma (means) birth that determines his destiny. It is his Karma (roughly translated to actions) that determines his or her destiny.

You may be experiencing lack of success in your life. But there is no point in blaming your birth, family, society or conditions.

Most of us had a royal treatment as children. We were born in the most hygienic conditions of a hospital. We were wrapped in sterile white clothes. Our parents held us on a high spirit and we never thought about any difficulties for quite a long time.

When that support is removed, we felt it unfair. Understand it is not. We are all capable of making our own lives and reaching whatever destiny we choose in life. No not everyone can be the richest man on earth. Not everyone can become the president of America.

Everyone can, however design his destiny. To lead a successful life is not a life of conformity. You really don’t have to conform to any norms or restrictions. You really have the potential to break the cocoons of restrictions and go for your full potential.

There are many cocoons that prevent us from exploring the wonders of the world. The main among them are our own attitudes. Whenever we think we are incapable of doing something, we are pulling ourselves into a cocoon. Whenever we feel we don’t deserve something, we are pulling ourselves into a cocoon. Whenever we say to ourselves we shall not do this or that, we are pulling ourselves into a cocoon.

Correctly understand the facts. There is nothing on this earth that prevents you from attaining true glory of life. Make the determination what you can and should do. Make the picture of your destiny clearer and clearer in your mind. Then you will be able to describe that picture in words. Till you can describe your dreams in words, you don’t have a clear idea about where to reach in life.

Once you have a clear idea of where to reach in life, the path to that point will be clearly visible before you. All you will have to do then is to take the opportunities that come your way.

Now you know it is not Janma, but Karma that determines your destiny. Before attempting the Karma, you need to identify the destination. You can design your karma accordingly.

The single point here is, do you have a clear picture about your destiny? Try if you can clearly depict that picture in words.

You attain mastery in doing anything only when you can complete the task almost on an autopilot. A master article writer is one who can complete an article without worrying about rules or techniques of article writing. You don’t think what you are doing, but everything that needs to be done is done at the right time and in the right manner.

If a writer wants to project himself through his article, the writer has poor mastery over article writing. Many article writers try to drop names and use sophisticated language to attain this. The result will be poor readability. The write words flow from the pen (excuse me; it’s keyboard now) in an effortless manner.

A master article writer doesn’t think so much about which words to use or what sentence structure to follow. His or her only thought is to convey the idea in an effortless manner. When an article writer attains some kind of supremacy in article writing, he or she experiences a free flow of words and his fingers moving over the keyboard effortlessly. The eyes just see the fantastic results being produced on the screen.

Master article writers never assume they have done something exceptional. They are always willing to recheck what they have drafted. The recheck comes after 10 minutes, two hours or a week. Four year old girl seeks her parents

Pooja is a normal four year old girl. This girl from somewhere in the northern part of India is now at Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Southern most state capital of India. A lot of people she would rejoin her parents sooner than later.

I was quite surprised to receive the same email forwarded from different friends and again seeing the same mail at a Yahoo Group and at orkut.com community message. The common theme of all the mails was an appeal to humankind to help a four year laz find her parents. She was separated from her parents somewhere in the past.

Pooja, apparently from Northern India reached the hands of Kerala Police when they stiffened the stand on abusing children for begging. Pooja, the girl retrieved from a Tamil nomadic group. The beggar gang leader lied before magistrate that Pooja is his daughter but she was lucky to be rescued and be sent to Nirmala Bhavan Sisu Bhavan, a caretake place for young children in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Pooja is the company of 24 other kids at the place.

Pooja slowly learns to speak Malayalam and teaches others Hindi film songs.

According to Pooja her father is Raju and mother is Munnadevi of Nagaluppa. Since then police has searched all places in Northern States of India for Nagaluppa the place name. The searches gave no results.

Meanwhile some persons set up a website at http://helppoojafindherparents.org/, a website that tells known details about the girl.

Now enquiry calls come in search of Pooja from Europe, US and all parts of the world. Finding real parents of the girl becomes a tough task and only DNA tests tell the real parents.

When Technology Becomes Politicised

War against multinational corporations, globalism and other intellectual enemies were always a necessity for the communists of Kerala, more so than anywhere else in the world.

The latest war take by coms is against Windows OS. They today want Linux OS installed in all computers of Kerala. Ough, their teeth and nail war against computers is not buried in memory yet.

Think people of Kerala, what good has the fight against implementation of computers brought us. It only pushed us back by 20 or 30 years. While other states of South India embraced computer implementation of computers, we were busy preventing the entry of this mamoth enemy that would leave thousands of us unemployed, because then we were at least somewhat brainwashed that a computer could do the job of a thousand people and 999 people will be left unemployed with the coming of a single computer. Nice logic, nah?

The people got enlightenment when one of their leaders visited some foreign countries where he saw thousands of young people employed with different computer application jobs.

Yeah, they were magnanimous in 'correcting' their mistakes, but by the time Kerala has already been lashed back by at least 20 years behind Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

It is a happy thing they acknowledge computers today. Now they are educated so much that they are fully aware of the dangers of proprietary software like Windows OS. Free and Open Source Software is their need of the hour. Implementing Linux is a burning desire.

As soon as they came to power they have took the first steps of installling Linux in all school computers of Kerala. Now, they want to find teachers experienced enough in Linux atmosphere to teach tens of thousands of children.

What a great scenario, isn't it? A state full of Linux OS computers, but with little people with enough knowledge in handling Linux.

You are fully aware of the previous war against this giant called computer. Now we have another enemy in desktop.

Reading this much down, don't think I am against Linux. In fact I appreciate Linux for the open environment it provides. But are enough teachers of Kerala today capable of handling Linux Platform?

Attempts of computer education to teachers really was a hard task for instructors. Now think about our teachers memorizing 50 lines of Linux Programming.

Yeah, but we are always ready to fight unknown enemies. Because if we stop fighting, our great party will go to shambles. Followers always need to struggle and hope for a bright future, where easy to use software has no place, it must be Free and Open. By free we always mean 'free meals'. Is there really a thing called 'free meals'? I thought no.

Sadly, most of the criteria that fits Adsense click fraud also fits better performing Adwords ads or Adsense publisher pages. Advertisors use Adwords to get qualified visits to their site. The goal of the advertisors can be a product sale, a signup or spreading word about their movement. With click frauds, the advertisors will only be throwing their money in the air. Finding a way to prevent click frauds thus becomes the logical step towards ensuring income for Adsense publishers on the long run. Because it is from advertisors that the money comes from.

The great revenue source has prompted many publishers find alternative ways to generate artificial clicks, which has given rise to large-scale click-fraud. Click fraud is the practise of artificially generating clicks with the help of bots or people.

There are reports about a dating site retracting paid structure to utilize Adsense as revenue source. Their revenue increased after they stopped asking users to pay. Who Controls Law and Order in Kerala?

Reading the newspapers of Dec 9 Saturday, a doubt crept into my mind, Who controls law and order in Kerala, police or politicians at power?

I now believe law and order is controlled solely by people at power, in a way they like it.

Read the stories of a raid conducted at a recording studio in Cochin by anti-piracy wing, which was promptly interfered by home department. Inspector General of Police (Anti Piracy Cell) Rishi Raj Singh was asked to immediately stop the raid, which when he refused was presented with an order stating he was removed from the IG post and all his positions as high ranked IPS officer taken off of from him.

Read it in another way, if you are a policeman, looking to do your duty as is described in the law books and police rules, you may be suspended from your post any moment, even when you are in the midst of doing your duty. Increadible, nah?

P.S. the abovesaid studio is owned and operated by the wife of another IG of Police, Tomin Thachankari. But thanks to Chief Minister of Kerala, VS Achuthanandan who ordered to re-instate IG back at his position, which helped continue the raid after a two and a half hours.

Who Am I Blogging For?Getting your thoughts and ideas in words is an excellent way of giving more clarity to the thoughts. Others may not believe it, but I do. Yeah, this blog I start is an expression of my ideas, thoughts, experiences and things I know.

Target? Myself.

I don’t care what others think about what I think or my ideas. Only thing I care is clarification of my ideas to myself.

What to write about or what to blog about are literally not a matter of concern – for me. Anything that comes to my mind will take form and shape in my palace.

Probably my father had great ideas about me and my brother – hence put the royal term ‘Prince’ in our names.

Yeah, I now think everything connected to me must be royal – like Prince’s Palace.

I do appreciate suggestions and directions about adding ambience to my palace. Have any idea? Leave it in the form of a comment. Why not publish my email address? I already have more than enough junk mail hitting my inbox daily. I am not averse of sharing my email id with real people.

Then again about the purpose of my blog – it is to give a solid form of my thoughts, ideas and experiences about everything in my kingdom called my life.

It is a common problem for me to find an exact topic to write about. The title is some quite misleading I agree, it never comes something out of nothing or void. Yet again I am going to write down what I don’t when I don’t have anything special to write about.

Most times it is software – I usually download the free-trial versions and check out the functionality. The latest software I checked is Adobe Digital Editions. Team Work and Lonely Tuskers

I have been reading about the employability status of Kerala youth. The second criticism about guys and gals of Kerala is that they are poor team players. The first one being lack of (proper) communication skills. Are we poor team players and better lonely tuskers?

I have a made a soul searching exercise – am I really a team player? I am quite confused if I can be a team player. My work - copy writing and content writing - is always a lonely task. I don’t have the chance to ask for help from someone else whenever I get a writers bloc. I am happy to tread a lone path.

Does it mean I am a poor team player? I really don’t have an idea, I have never been in a team except when I used to play cricket, making a village path pitch and two rubber estates on either sides field. Yeah, I played as a team member. Yeah, there was not a captain in most of the occasions. Make decisions as the game go on. At times we win and at times we lose. Sometimes we get big victories against stronger teams. I remember personal accomplishments like five wickets in three overs more clearly than any team accomplishments. I also remember quick outbursts by different players at different times to drastically alter the progress of games.

Does it again mean I am more a chess player than a soccer player? I don’t care whatever you think.

Have you read the book titled ‘The Science of Getting Rich’ by Wallace D Wattles?
I have little comments on the e-book and its contents, not because I got it for free, but because it describes the significant basic things like thought and actions when made in a certain way will lead to gradual unfolding towards abundance of whatever you seek.
Every man requires money and an abundance of it to reach his full potential of intellectual, mental, social and spiritual fullness. One needs to strive towards attaining the fullness of his purpose of life. Modern society assigns great power to money. Thus the effective way of making money is also the way of overall development of one as a whole person.
No this book is nothing about quick money – but about earned money and earned life that you choose to attract to your life and keep there as long as you like.
The curious thing about Wallace D Wattles, there is precious little information about him available from the (e)-book.
I didn’t like the title of the book and thought the man is some con artist trying to sell yet another rich-scheme. Reading halfway down, I understand the author means what he says and is applicable to every man’s (and woman’s) life.
This book is different from ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by --. D Wattles repeatedly suggests that thought can give formless substances form, but only when used in a certain way and when coupled with action.
In other words it is as simple as ‘thoughtless is of no use unless you act and action is waste if not supported by thought’.
The Science of Getting Rich is all about giving the power of thought to action. The thoughts and actions you think insignificant have greater value than I once thought. Yeah, there are few books that have boosted my thinking process – Science of Getting Rich is undoubtedly one of them.
I have got a copy of it as an e-book that I downloaded from Mind Power News . I think several other websites other than Mind Power News either sell or allow people to download the e-book for free. Getting something free of cost has no value – do you think it is true? Even if you do, it will change if you read it for once and practice the principles for six months.

Male Female Platonic Relationships

Some say it’s just not possible, some (mostly women) say it is possible. What is the truth about male-female platonic relationship? Has anyone had real platonic relationship with a member of opposite sex, and the relationship is strictly platonic? It will be a difficult thing to answer. There is only a blurred line between sexual attraction and platonic relationship.

I have a few questions for you reader, have you had a strictly platonic relationship with a member of opposite sex? That is if you are a woman, have you ever had a real-heartfelt friendship with a man?

I know, I know it is a very difficult question to answer. Even in declared friendships, there are instances where one of the parties feels some sort of attraction towards the other, which in most cases is not reciprocated.

Bring back Niram, the campus film by Kamal, in which most of the story evolves round the platonic relationship between the leading characters. One of them feels a void when there happened to be a separation between them – he feels desperately bad for allowing such feelings to come into his mind. The biggest joke is that it is only the female lead character that doesn’t recognize the other’s feelings towards her.

This is a common trend, and rarely is the situation reversed – have any objection?

Two of my friends lately attended a job interview. The job they are supposed to do – to collect outstanding loan dues from customers of major private banks and financial institutions. On hearing their interview experience, a lot of things flashed through my mind.

Employing persons to collect outstanding dues is not new news in Kerala. I think it is the same everywhere in the world. The modus operandi of collection agents is disturbing. If a customer defaults payment for a long time, the financial institution – icici bank, hdfc, citi financial among countless others – refers the responsibility of collecting outstanding dues to so called collection agencies.

The collection agencies and agents say they never use coercive techniques – only in saying. The action of collection agents gives hell of a time to debtors. I agree, they have failed to repay the loan they have taken, but now they have to pay back with more than money.

The first tactic of the agents is to frequent the debtor’s home on a regular basis. They just don’t visit the home, but also make sure everyone in the neighbourhood know their purpose of visit. The debtor will be faced with questions regarding his (her too) loan. Needless to say it is more than embarrassing for the debtor.

About persons who have taken vehicle loans – the collection agents come and pick the vehicle itself. All loan providers use this. There are several tight skinned persons who are more than happy to leave their vehicles with their financier for as much as three months.

I doubt what the loan due collection agents will do to defaulters of home loans.

Stand up for yourself whenever you feel the need to. Are your friends bullying you so much? It is time to put your foot down. Are you not getting what you have paid for? It is time to stand up for yourself.

Our family had a tough time dealing with some neighborhood issues. A few of our neighbors want a broad path to their homes, at our cost. Or in other words through our property, after removing three jack fruit trees, three cashew nut trees, two mango trees and several other small trees. Everyone knew it is complete injustice against us – they just know it.

And the day came when they have reached to broaden the three feet path to a seven or eight feet path, taking up extra land from our property. They were about fifty of them, mostly hired workers under the leadership of our neighbor. My younger brother put a bold foot and challenged the action of them. Ours is a civil society and not any 16th century society where muscle power ruled over everything. The next scene was police station, from where a constable came and asked them to stop working. Sure, we get the support of others and mainly from the police. Their project was lost. Though paths and walkways are necessary, I or my family didn’t feel the requirement of unjustifiable sufferings.

Others could help us, only because my brother was able to make a bold statement and stood for us.

Thus standing up for yourself involves keeping your prestige and self-respect intact without ever allowing others to take it away from you.

Many times in the past I felt it is OK to take myself not so seriously. No. That type of thought is not with me any more. If you don’t take yourself seriously, others too will not. If you make sure you have self respect and prestige, others too will agree with it.
Stand up for yourself, make voice for yourself. The first thing is to understand you have self-respect. It is not assuming or believing, but understand and know that you deserve to be treated with respect.

Brand new zippy e-book reader from Adobe, the new Digital Editions is a brand new experience in reading PDF files.

Unlike the regular PDF readers from adobe, Digital Editions takes up only 2.5 MB. I see before my eyes the whole file being downloaded and installed in a zip. Has the whole process taken a minute? I doubt no.

There are quite a few attractive things about Digital Editions. The two features that caught my eye

Adobe Digital editions is in Beta Version and is available for free to download from Adobe Labs.

How does Adobe make revenue out of Digital Editions? Adobe might be selling ebooks through their ebook-store.
